Photography cannot preserve someone's voice
Wedding videography is often one of the first things couples question when the budget starts adding up. You already have a photographer, so surely they are both capturing the same wedding? In one sense, yes. But they are preserving completely different parts of it. Photography freezes a fraction of a second, and that is its strength. One expression, one touch, one reaction can become an image you return to for decades.
Video keeps the seconds around it. It keeps the sound of your vows, the pause before someone starts a speech, the way your partner laughs halfway through a sentence, the music as you walk into the reception. That is the difference, and it becomes even more significant as the years pass.
Your vows are more than the words themselves
You could print your vows and keep them in a box, but hearing your partner actually say them is something different. Video captures the nervous laugh, the shaky breath, the moment someone's voice breaks, and the cheers afterwards. Those are things a photograph can suggest but never fully reproduce.
Some of the best video moments are the ones you never planned
Your wedding video is not only about the formal events. Sometimes it is your friends talking while you get ready, your mother's reaction when she first sees you dressed, champagne popping, or the room erupting when you enter the reception. The wedding has sound and movement that photography is simply not designed to preserve.
How Dexterous Weddings approaches video
That does not mean every couple automatically needs video. Wedding videography should not be booked simply because Instagram says you will regret your wedding forever without it. If speeches are not particularly important to you and you prefer still photography, photo-only coverage may genuinely be the better investment. But if voices, movement and speeches are part of what you want to remember, film gives you something photography cannot replace.
Our videography is offered through our Media Team packages, which combine photography and videography as one coordinated service rather than sending two disconnected suppliers into the same wedding. Media Team Half Day includes six hours with one photographer and one videographer, a full wedding film and a three-minute highlights reel. Media Team Full Day extends to eight hours with a full film plus a five-minute feature film. Media Team Full Pack covers twelve hours with two photographers and one videographer, a full film, a seven-minute feature film and a one-minute trailer. All Media Team packages include a photo-only mini pre-wedding shoot.
